Charter Focus: On the Deck of Duke Town

Charter Focus: On the Deck of Duke Town

The 36.5 metre superyacht Duke Town was launched by Heesen in 2002. Since her arrival into the water, she has lived her life as the epitome of a world-class charter yacht. We take a look at life on the deck of Duke Town.

Spanning three decks and 36.5 metres, this is a characteristic and stylish Heesen superyacht with expert engineering typical of the Dutch yacht builder.

Designed by Omega Architects, Duke Town is the perfect yacht to sail the Mediterranean, with a range of 2100 nautical miles and zero speed stabilizers to ensure a smooth journey at 18 knots, whatever the conditions.

Her 7.6 metre beam offers a spacious layout inside, whilst maintaining a sleek and sporty look across her exterior. The accommodation and entertainment areas, however, are where she really shines as a charter vessel par excellence.

The comfortable setting in which guests can sit, relax, dine and enjoy time with friends and family across the boat was styled to offer contemporary luxury, with custom furnishings, stone, wood, leather and refined neutral colours creating the overall tone on board.

Duke Town houses guests in comfort and style, with five staterooms sleeping up to 10 guests on board; consisting of a full-width master stateroom located on the main deck, two double cabins and two additional twin cabins, all with en-suite.

The choice to dine inside with 12 guests or move to the external areas is a seamless experience, allowing those on board to entertain or relax effortlessly. The Sun Deck boats Jacuzzi and sun pads for quiet reflection in the sun, while the uninterrupted views provide the backdrop.

For those with a taste for speed and adventure, toys on board include a dedicated Novurania tender, two waverunner Kawasaki jet skis, water skis and diving and snorkelling gear to go from the deck to the depths in minutes.

Currently available for both sale and charter with Titan Broker, Duke Town is currently offering experiences across Southern Europe.

Superyacht in Focus: The Charter Appeal of Sycara V

Superyacht in Focus: The Charter Appeal of Sycara V

In 2010, the world was introduced to Sycara V. After years of providing unparalleled experiences on water for both owner and charter guest, we look at what makes this project an exciting yacht in terms of both sales and charter.

Measuring 68 metres, Sycara V was the vision of an experienced owner. The brief was to create a yacht which offered the most comfortable yachting experience available to charter guests across the world.

The people tasked with building this superyacht were yacht designer Craig Beale and forward-thinking German yacht builder Nobiskrug.

The design elements that run throughout this yacht are all aimed at a sophisticated lifestyle, combined with ample spaces both internally and externally to live in harmony with the water.

Her penthouse style interior - also designed by Craig Beale - features beautiful woods, natural stones and fabrics, while her exterior spaces divided into dedicated, purpose-built entertaining, relaxing and dining areas.

The sun-deck in particular is an example of her undeniable charter appeal, featuring BBQ, bar, dining table, gym room, pool and a treatment room.

From the top, to the bottom, Sycara V’s beach club is an idyllic observation point where owners and guests can sit as close to the water in complete comfort and watch the waves surrounding the signature blue hull.

The full-beam Master Suite features private terrace, while the overall accommodation layout provides space for 12 guests in a total of 7 cabins; not including space for a world-class crew of 20.

Currently cruising the West Mediterranean with charter agents IYC - before heading the Caribbean for the winter months - this unparalleled purpose-built charter yacht is also available for sale.

Chartering Superyacht Kismet with Moran Yacht & Ship

Chartering Superyacht Kismet with Moran Yacht & Ship

One of the largest charter yachts in the world, superyacht Kismet is truly one of a kind. Now available for charter with Moran Yacht & Ship, we take a look at how this purpose-built yacht was designed to create the highest levels of experience and exclusivity on the waters today.

Launched in 2014, the 95.20 metre Kismet was built by one of the most respected shipyards in the world, Lürssen Yachts.

Central agents Moran Yacht & Ship told us how the project began as an evolution of the original 68 metre Lürssen superyacht Kismet.

The new 95.20 metre project provided a platform for the owner to build on his previous iconic yacht and add features to cater for sophisticated charter clients.

“She has had some very high profile charters this past year and they have had nothing but good things to say about the boat, her crew and their experience onboard,” comments Chris Callahan, Marketing Director of Moran Yacht & Ship.

After traversing the Thames in 2015 - showcasing her signature 3D Printed Jaguar bow ornament - this stunning work of modern marine engineering became a highly discussed and sought-after member of the Top 100 Largest Yachts in the World.

Now, twelve guests can step on board superyacht Kismet to enjoy a charter experience like no other, with the Summer season offering adventure across the East and West Mediterranean before heading to the Caribbean to spend her winter months in the sun.

Designed by Espen Oeino, this pedigree-built superyacht has an imposing, yet graceful, modern profile and features exterior spaces to cater for every situation, wherever you are in the world.

Her elaborate interior styling was created by Reymond Langton Design, and expertly fills the expansive space within - thanks to a large beam of 13.80 metres - providing guests on board with a comfortable atmosphere while they make the most of the numerous design elements on board.

The superyacht charter market does not get much more exclusive than Kismet, and while details are still highly secretive, we’ve provided a look at a new set of stunning photos placing the 45th largest yacht in the world in her natural habitat.

Superyacht Destination Handbook: Karpaz Gate Marina

Superyacht Destination Handbook: Karpaz Gate Marina

Specifically designed and created to harbour superyachts and luxury vessels, Karpaz Gate Marina sits on the cape of North Cyprus, and is one of the up and coming yachting destinations in the East Mediterranean. We take a look at what makes this 'Five Gold Anchor' marina a go-to location for yachts touring the Adriatic.

Located next to the Karpaz National Park, Karpaz Gate Marina acts as a welcome point for a lesser travelled slice of the East Mediterranean. The aim of creating the Marina itself was to provide world-class superyacht facilities while both protecting and showcasing the stunning natural cruising grounds of the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus.

Surrounding Destinations
On Northern part of the island alone, guests at Karpaz Gate can indulge in a range of activities; be it exploration, luxurious relaxation or adrenaline fuelled sports.

The natural sights of the shores include the opportunity to see the hatching Loggerhead turtles of Alagadi Turtle Beach, the exotic flora and fauna of Guzelyurt National Park, the challenge of Five Finger Mountain and the serenity of Iskele Long Beach.

Shop and dine in Kyrenia, the idyllic coastal town with over 6,000 years history under Five Finger Mountain, gamble the night away in Bafra Casino, and discover ancient castles, cities and basilicas.

For those with a taste for sport or adventure, guests on board a boat docked in Karpaz Gate Marina can also experience the best in Golf at the Korineum Golf Club, go diving in the crystal clear waters of Famagusta or experience paragliding above the country’s stunning coast.

Marina Facilities
The Marina accommodates yachts up to 55 metres in length, with a 18,000sqm dry dock to undergo refit and repairs. This facility also holds a substantial 300-ton travel lift for yachts up to 45 metre, ensuring that yachts berthing up for the summer, have a place to be for winter repairs.

Karpaz Gate also offers fresh drinking water and power to all yachts tying up, with high-speed internet and TV with world-class security. This tax-free, sheltered and secure base is ideal for Owner, Captain and Crew either staying or sheltering in the East Mediterranean.

Billy Cañellas on the Future of Porto Montenegro

Billy Cañellas on the Future of Porto Montenegro

Montenegro’s natural beauty isn’t anything new; however, the region’s UNESCO protected fjords, rolling hills and stunning waters are the new chosen cruising grounds of the superyacht community, and at the heart of this is Porto Montenegro.

With the return of the MYBA Pop Up Superyacht Show, we speak to Billy Cañellas - PMYC General Manager - to get an insight into the new investments, new developments and the new edition of the charter and brokerage show.

How has new investment helped further development?
“The move to acquire Porto Montenegro marina and nautical village was in alignment with ICD’s strategy to add high quality international assets in fast growing markets to its substantial portfolio. This transaction marks ICD’s first investment in Montenegro and the yacht marina sector, both of which are expected to experience strong growth in coming years, that’s why we believe that the events such as MYBA can only grow in Montenegro.”

What is the main draw of the 2nd MYBA Pop Up Show?
“There are two main attractions here, the show, and then there’s Porto Montenegro itself. It’s a perfect excuse for brokers to visit the location since the industry is really growing here.

It’s a chance to see the marina and the cruising grounds, there are a lot of fun trips during the show around Boka Bay which are the fjords here. The show itself, like any show, is a platform for brokers.

It’s a sales and charter show, the attraction is to come and showcase yachts to be chartered in the area. It’s also a great opportunity to network with colleagues. We have a lot of events during the show with seminars surrounding key topics of the region, speaking about taxation and regulation for charter.

I would say, this is why MYBA have decided to put on this show on this side of the world. It was the brokers that demanded it, there’s a lot of superyacht chartering in this area and a lot of the big Central Agencies have a lot of business here. It makes a lot of sense to have an opportunity to showcase the yachts where they’re going to operate instead of taking them across the water elsewhere to then bring them back.”

How is the yacht display expanding and changing?
“The first year exceeded our expectations, of both MYBA and Porto Montenegro. To have 29 yachts for a newborn show is something amazing. The feedback was very positive last year, so we’re ready for the show to grow.

We’re seeing a lot more interest than last year, in the meantime we have proven that the show is a reality with a successful first edition and we’re building on top of that. We’re expecting the number of yachts to increase [...] We’re going full gear after the success of last year.”

Why is Porto Montenegro is one of the year's top destinations?
“We have the duty free fuel, which is around 45% cheaper than Croatia, Italy, Greece or France. There are also no taxes on charters, that’s a big thing when it comes down to superyachts. We are out of the EU, geolocated in Europe but out of the EU, and the cruising grounds themselves, like our UNESCO protected Fjords, are amazing.”

Aegean & Adriatic Yacht Charter on Superyacht St. David

Aegean & Adriatic Yacht Charter on Superyacht St. David

Before the world saw St. David crossing the Corinth Channel, the 62 metre Benetti superyacht had been enjoying adventures across the Adriatic and the Aegean. We spoke to Captain Jean Marc Bitouzet to get a closer look at the charter journeys that took St. David through the Greek channel and beyond.

A Formidable Aegean Journey
When we spoke to Captain Bitouzet, he had just bid goodbye to guests after their second charter experience on board St. David.

In search of something different, they had asked the Captain and the team at West Nautical to come up with an alternative itinerary to the classic Mediterranean routes.

This shift in charter mentality has led the St. David team to some of the newest and most sought-after charter regions in the world over recent months.

One 18-day charter took guests from Kotor and back via Corfu, Paxos, Lefkas, Galaxidi, Corinth, The Conrinthian Channel, Paros, Vouliagmeni, Kythnos, Milos, Skoutary, Kardamily, Limeni, Petalido, Zakynthos, Kealonia, Ithaka and Lefkas.

An Adventure Across the Adriatic
With exclusive pictures of the above journey, we take a look at just one of the charter itineraries for July, a journey which is destined to ignite wanderlust for the Adriatic.

Day 1: Kotor - Dubrovnik
Welcoming guests on board for a drink in Kotor, the first stop in the itinerary is Dubrovnik - the city in which the ‘Iron Throne’ of the HBO series Game of Thrones, as Captain Bitouzet joyfully remarks. The stunning streets and architecture of Dubrovnik is matched by the stunning coastal sights and mountain vistas.

Day 2: Dubrovnik - Hvar
After leaving Dubrovnik, a visit to Miljet island allows guests to visit a beautiful Monastary on its own island in the lake while on the route to Korcula. This is a region best known for being Croatia’s ‘wine country’, with historic cellars and a chance to sample the region’s best before heading to Hvar to spend an evening in the port.

Day 3: Hvar - Trogir
The stunning architecture within the city of Trogir is reason enough to moor up and step on to dry land, however the added bonus of visiting the beauty of Brac island and the changing beach of Bol will make dinner in Trogir something to talk about.

Day 4: Trogir - Skradin
From Trogir, superyacht St David heads for the Kornati region by first heading to Skradin and the Krk Waterfall National Park, visiting the breath-taking sight by boat and swimming in the crystal waters.

Day 5: Skradin - Dugi Otok
Leaving Skradin, St David heads for the island of Dugi Otok in the Kornati Islands. This extremely deep bay, which is also part of a National Park, allows guests to enjoy water sports in complete safety. From there, St David docks in Mali Losinj for the evening to enjoy the surrounding sights of the town centre.

Day 6: Mali Losinj - Briuni Island
In the early hours of the morning, the yacht will travel to Briuni Island to visit Marshall Tito’s private island, which is now open for visitors to arrive and even test drive his Cadillac Chieftain convertible. This is a place where animals roam free and the beautiful beaches are untouched.

Day 7: Briuni Island - Porec
From Briuni, Captain Bitouzet will then direct St David toward Porec that night. After a sail time of around 4.5 hours, guests can step on the stones of Venice - a little town with a protected harbour which acts as closest crossing point to Venice, Italy. Here, the waters of Venice national park will provide the relaxation as guests prepare for the final day.

Day 8: Porec - Venice
Porec gives way to one of the world’s cultural icons, Venice, Italy. Docking as close to the Piazza San Marco as possible, guests on board can walk the streets while the team organises travel to the airport with a classic Venetian water taxi.

This stunning journey has been shared with us in great detail, offering an unparalleled insight into one of the best charter breaks available. For more information on the charter schedule and availability of St. David, click here.
